The short version

Every dress starts with a purpose. Read the customer’s request, plan a design in the sketchbook, choose materials, arrange and cut the pattern pieces, sew the garment, add finishing details, then review the result before delivery. The order matters because a decision made in the sketchbook affects what you need to buy and cut later.

1. Read before spending

Start with the commission rather than the fabric shop. Note the requested qualities and any required garment parts. Build 410 made component names clickable in the sketchbook, which helps when a requirement uses an unfamiliar term.

Do not treat a community checklist as an exact formula. The public official sources describe the workflow, but they do not publish a complete table of hidden weights for every attribute.

2. Plan in the sketchbook

Choose the dress pieces, colours, fabric samples and appliqué or accessory ideas in the sketchbook. Use the mannequin preview to catch obvious silhouette problems before committing materials. The plan is a working brief, not a promise that every material combination will hit the same quality result.

3. Buy only what the plan needs

The International Emporium is the fabric-shopping step. Confirm the material name, amount and commission before buying. If you bought the wrong material, stop and re-check the plan instead of cutting it immediately; public sources do not establish a universal refund or resale value.

4. Arrange and cut the pattern

At the cutting table, place pattern pieces on the fabric and read the quality feedback shown by the game. Grain and bias affect how a piece sits on the cloth. Keep pieces inside the usable area and verify the layout before committing the cut.

5. Sew, finish and review

Take the cut pieces to the sewing machine, then add lace, trim and accessories where the design calls for them. Before delivery, review the completed dress against the original request. The game awards reputation and coin for delivered work, but no official public formula explains every payout.

If progression appears stuck

Update to the current build first. Build 403 fixed tutorial flow problems and requires ringing the bell to summon the next customer. Build 410 fixed a tutorial softlock caused by opening the sketchbook before the bell prompt. See the troubleshooting guide before restarting a dress.
