Current verdict: Playable
Steam’s compatibility data classifies Dressmaker as Playable on Steam Deck. That is a lower category than Verified and can include manual setup or interface limitations.
Reported compatibility notes
The current data flags non-Steam controller glyphs, small in-game text and minor display issues. It also reports that the default controller configuration is functional. These points describe compatibility review results, not a promise that every screen feels native on a controller.
Proper controller support is still separate
The September 21 launch announcement listed proper controller support among planned future work. That is why this guide does not claim the game has complete controller-first navigation today.
Before playing on Deck
Update the game, use the default recommended layout first and expect mouse-style interaction in parts of the UI. Check the current Steam compatibility panel before buying specifically for handheld play.
